How we work: Scan, Pilot, Scale
Our approach to adopting AI across the Ministry of Justice follows a structured Scan, Pilot, Scale methodology.
Scan — Explore what's possible
- We continuously look for new ideas, technologies, and opportunities that could improve how we work or deliver value.
- This includes trends, tools, and emerging practices.
- The goal is awareness and informed curiosity — not immediate action.
We stay open-minded and proactive. Everyone in the unit can contribute by spotting opportunities or sharing insights.
Pilot — Test what works
- We test promising ideas on a small scale to see if they actually work in practice.
- Pilots are controlled, time-bound, and low risk.
- We measure outcomes and learn quickly.
We don't assume ideas will work — we validate them. It's okay to experiment, and it's okay if something doesn't succeed, as long as we learn from it.
Scale — Grow what succeeds
- We expand solutions that have proven successful in pilots to broader use.
- This means integrating them into standard processes.
- Focus is on consistency, efficiency, and impact.
When something works, we commit to it. We align as a unit to adopt and support it so it delivers full value.
